About Our Lab
The Data Innovation and AI Lab is a collaborative research initiative based at UC Berkeley (Haas School of Business) and the University of Pennsylvania (Wharton School). Co-directed by Abhishek Nagaraj and Matteo Tranchero, our lab brings together researchers from economics, computer science, and business to study the profound impact of artificial intelligence and big data on economic systems.
Our interdisciplinary approach combines rigorous economic analysis with cutting-edge data science methods to understand how AI technologies are transforming industries, labor markets, and innovation ecosystems. We work closely with industry partners, policymakers, and academic institutions to ensure our research has real-world impact and contributes to evidence-based decision making.
